Hello and welcome back to Lake Buena Vista's Holiday Week! For Christmas Eve, what better than a retelling of The Night(mare) Before Christmas? Disclaimer: I have seen this movie probably twenty times, and I absolutely adore it. Nevertheless, for young kids it's watchability (I might have made this word up) should be left up to the parents. It is Halloween-themed and pretty spooky at parts, so beware. The Nightmare Before Christmas retells the famous story but from an interesting perspective: the king of Halloweentown, Jack Skellington. Skellington reigns over the entire holiday of Halloween, with the rest of the spooky town of clowns, ghosts, witches, and more. When Skellington gets a little lost on a walk, he stumbles upon the town of Christmas and becomes infatuated with the idea, wanting to take over the holiday for himself. With the caution of love interest Sally and the villainy of Oogie Boogie, Skellington learns about his true place and the world's need for Santa on Christmas. Written by Tim Burton, who penned other masterpieces like Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas shines with gothic flair. Chock full of witty lines and interesting moral questions, the plot is likable and eclectic. Nightmare's animation style, with stop-motion animation reigning, gives it even more of an unique vibe. Overall, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a great film to watch on both Halloween and Christmas! The entire aesthetic of the movie is a little indie, but everyone can enjoy it if they give it a chance. "My dearest friend, if you don't mind... I'd like to join you by your side. Where we can gaze into the stars, and sit together, now and forever. For it is plain, as anyone can see. We're simply meant to be." It's Day Three of the Lake Buena Vista Holiday Week, and for today's installment, I've put together a little graphic with some cool trivia about the holidays at Disney resorts!
Check it out: *Update: fixed problems with the photos where one was duplicated. Sorry about that! Hello my followers and welcome to the second day of Lake Buena Vista's Christmas Week! For today, I've incorporated my new series A Spoonful of Sugar with a holiday theme! These delicious treats are perfect for Christmas and for boxing up on Boxing Day (does anyone actually do that anymore?) and giving to your all of your friends!
Today's Recipe: Mickey Mouse's Sugar Cookies!
Hello Disnerds! Are you ready for the beginning of Lake Buena Vista's holiday week?
For the first installment, I've created an infographic (which has some interactivity involved) all about celebrating the winter holidays at Walt Disney World. Check it out below, roll over the bells for more information, and maybe you'll learn something new!
Hey Disnerds!
Happy Holidays and Happy Winter Break for all of the students! This holiday stretch marks the one and half year anniversary of this blog, and as I did last year, I'm doing a week full of winter holiday fun! Be prepared for Monday the 21st through Friday the 25th to see fun holiday ideas (and maybe a Boxing Day idea!) and plenty of Disney to get you in the winter mood. Furthermore, this new year's I will continue with my new year's resolutions on this blog (with a twist). In preparation for next week, you can check out all of last year's Holiday posts through the links below: Disney Gifts Christmas Playlist Disney Christmas Movies Disney Stocking Stuffers In other news, if you love Disney music (who doesn't?) and especially love musicals, check out Newsies and Supergirl star Jeremy Jordan as he sings a Disney music medley at a charity event. The flow of the songs (especially from Newsies' "Santa Fe" to Hunchback's "Out There") is fantastic and Jordan has a lovely voice. Hello my faithful blog followers and Disney lovers, and Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! If you have been keeping yourself up-to-date with my previous blog posts, then you will have noticed that I found an old 1975 edition of the Mickey Mouse Cookbook on my shelves the other day, and have decided to start a new segment where I test out its recipes. Thus, A Spoonful of Sugar was born. Before I start my first recipe and cooking excursion, I want to take a second to appreciate how cute this cookbook is! It's been one of my go-to cookbook's throughout all of my life, and was my first inspiration to take up baking when I was a kid. Today's Recipe: Maid Marian's Mulled CiderHello my fellow Disnerds! I am so sorry about the delay in product on this blog! I have been super busy lately, but now things are starting to slow down during the holiday season (that sounds backwards doesn't it?) I'm working on planning some cool posts for the future, especially pertaining to the holidays so you can look forward to that. I'm working with a cool new app called MapJam to make interactive maps for this log, so once I experiment with that a little more productivity should increase. I'm also planning on giving my blog a bit of a cooking spin in the future as I just found a very old copy of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Cookbook on my shelves (from 1975!), and I want to test out some of the recipes for the holiday season. While we wait for me to get to work again, take a look at the new Zootopia trailer that came out today (and let me know your opinions because I was a little less-than-impressed with it). Also, The Good Dinosaur comes out in theaters tomorrow, so get pumped for that! For today's post in our Studio Ghibli week, I'm going over some of the best quotes from Studio Ghibli movies! Without further ado, let's get started! 1."No matter how many weapons you have, no matter how great your technology might be, the world cannot live without love." -Castle in the Sky 2. “You cannot alter your fate. However, you can rise to meet it.” -Princess Mononoke 3. "I've loved you since the wind brought you to me." -The Wind Rises 4. “We each need to find our own inspiration. Sometimes it’s not easy.” -Kiki’s Delivery Service 5. "Whenever someone creates something with all of their heart, then that creation is given a soul." -The Cat Returns 6. At times, the waves may taunt you, tossing you in their swells. But take heart. It’s hard to stick with it and make it on your own. But even a couple of losers can survive most things if they’re together.”
-My Neighbors the Yamadas 18. "Life is a wave on the sea. Would you force the sea to grow still to save one wave? To save yourself?" -Tales From Earthsea 19. It takes time and effort." -Whisper of the Heart Thursday's post, as you have probably guessed would occur, is a ranking of all of the Studio Ghibli movies, from worst to best.
