The happiest blog on Earth
Hello my followers and welcome to the second day of Lake Buena Vista's Christmas Week! For today, I've incorporated my new series A Spoonful of Sugar with a holiday theme! These delicious treats are perfect for Christmas and for boxing up on Boxing Day (does anyone actually do that anymore?) and giving to your all of your friends!
Today's Recipe: Mickey Mouse's Sugar Cookies!
What's more holiday-themed than scrumptious sugar cookies?
2. Break the egg into a large mixing bowl. Add the shortening, sugar, cinnamon, milk, and lemon juice. Beat with an egg beater until creamy.
3. Sift the flour and baking powder together into another bowl. Add this to the mixture in the first bowl and mix well.
4. Drop the dough by the teaspoonful onto 2 cookie sheets. Leave at least 1 inch of space between the cookies.
5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from the cookie sheets with a spatula (I totally didn't do this) and place on wire rack to cool. Decorate!
These cookies are pretty darn good! Some were a little dry and crumbly, but that very well could have been because of my substitutions. They taste delicious straight from the oven with festive sprinkles on top. I took this batch to my family's Christmas get-together and everyone enjoyed them. That being said, the recipe could use some tweaking to perfect the cookies.
