Hey guys! News update: Today Disney announced they will be pairing up with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) to improve upon the famous Great Movie Ride at Disney World in Orlando, FL. TCM is supposedly helping to change the wait and finale of the ride. As TCM's repayment, patrons can expect a lot of "Presented By TCM" signs when the new ride opens in Spring of 2015. This ride happens to be one of my favorites in Hollywood Studios, mostly because it's so interactive and the workers are so into it. I'm excited to see the changes, but worried that the whole idea of this reboot is just to plaster the TCM brand on everything. As another part of the deal, the Turner Classic Movies channel will be gaining ownership of some old Disney television shows and movies which will be shown on their channel at certain blocks during the year. Examples include the fantastic "Disneyland" television show from 1954. If the television deal is really what it sounds like, I have a feeling I will be watching a lot more TCM in the near future (which, of course, is exactly what they want). The New York Times wrote a more in-depth article on the branding part of the agreement that you can read here. What are your thoughts on the new deal? Leave a comment below and tell me your thoughts!

I cannot contain my excitement enough to put the usual hi and and introduction because Brad Bird is releasing a movie called Tomorrowland next year and the teaser came out today! How do I form coherent sentences? The movie will feature George Clooney as Frank, Britt Robertson as Casey, and follow the pair as they "travel" to the mystical Tomorrowland. See the teaser here. Brad Bird, of Ratatouille, The Incredibles, and The Iron Giant fame, is directing. Damon Lindelof is writing the screenplay; he co-created Lost! The informational website is here. Entertainment Weekly did an in-depth article here, and gave us this gorgeous picture. Disney has made sure to fill the end of 2014 and all of 2015 with exciting premieres, and I can't wait to see what they have in store.
Hello all! On August 11th at around noon, beloved actor Robin Williams was found dead in Tiburon, California. It was later revealed to be suicide, and all of America is mourning his loss. One of Williams' most famous roles is that of the Genie in Aladdin, and everyone at Disney has been touched by the news. On Tuesday, August 12th, Disney's Eric Goldberg, the supervising animator of the Genie, sent out this heartwarming tribute: It was captioned with a statement from the CEO of Walt Disney, Robert Igor: "We're deeply saddened by the loss of Robin Williams, a wonderfully gifted man who touched our hearts and never failed to make us laugh. An incredible actor and a comedic genius, Robin will always be remembered for bringing some of the world's favorite characters to life, from his zany alien on ABC's Mork & Mindy to the irascible genie in Disney's Aladdin. He was a true Disney Legend, a beloved member of our family, and he will be sorely missed. We join Robin's friends and fans everywhere in mourning, and offer our thoughts and condolences to his family during this difficult time."
Robin Williams will always be on our minds, and the impact he has made on every Disney fan is something that will be everlasting. |
